The apartment complex seems unable to fit proper bird guards over the three exterior vents - two bathroom fans and a dryer exhaust. The birds of course are nesting in two of them, and have been falling down the metal pipes and passing in a very loud and scratch-filled way. These pictures document what I found when I cleaned out one of the vents; sorry you clicked on the link.
