2002_07_07_San_Diego_camping

John and I foud a nice camp site at San Elijo State Beach (just north of Cardiff-by-the-sea and San Diego) to crash on Saturday night. Our campsite was right next to the ocean bluffs, and it was quite a pleasant evening. The best part was waking up, taking a hot shower, and then flying in the absolutely beautiful slope lift not 10' from where we slept. I was able to make relatively safe pattern approaches with the Zagi into our camping area and turn around for a nice landing below the rotor, but for John's less acrobatic 2x4 balsa model we opted to just walk down the stairs to the beach and land it down there, where he managed to fly it straight to me into a perfect hand catch.

Note that the contrast range was pretty large, so the images look more gloomy than it really was because the camera exposed for the sky.
